Laurie’s Notes and Giveaway

The Big Ideas Math series features the unique Teaching Edition that features Laurie’s Notes.  These informative notes were written by Dr. Laurie Boswell.  Dr. Boswell’s experience in math eduaction is rich and deep. In addition to co-authoring many textbooks with Dr. Larson, Laurie is a Tandy Technology Scholar, a recipient of the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics Teaching, NCSM board member, and a practicing teacher.

From time to time Laurie will be adding an article to the blog, so please let us know what you would like to hear from her!   We will have a drawing to give a free professional development workshop to one of our participating schools.  Just send your suggestion for Laurie’s Notes and include your school and we will have a drawing the last week of April.

NCTM Membership and Conference

Do you belong to NCTM?  The National Council of Teachers of Mathematics is your professional organization.  Membership is not expensive and provides you with all of the latest news in math education, exciting projects and lesson plans, as well as magazines and periodicals with articles that are rich and relevant.  Additionally, NCTM has state and local affiliates that provide you with pertinent information about what is going on at a local level.

NCTM Conference

Big Ideas Learning will have a booth at the National NCTM conference in Indianapolis, April 13-16.  Come by and see us!  You can visit us at the Houghton Mifflin Harcourt booth as well.
